Quick answer
llms.txt is a Markdown file placed at yourdomain.com/llms.txt that summarises your website for AI tools: a # title, a > one-line description, a short paragraph and ## sections with links to your most important pages. Together with Organization or LocalBusiness schema and robots.txt rules that allow AI crawlers, it helps assistants like ChatGPT describe your business correctly.
How to use it
- Fill in your business name, website and a short description – the more details, the better the result.
- Add your profiles, services, key pages and a few real customer questions.
- Copy or download the three files: upload
llms.txtto your site root, paste the schema into your home page and add the rules torobots.txt.
What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a proposed standard (llmstxt.org) for a plain-text Markdown file at the root of a website. Large language models and AI agents can read it to quickly understand what the site is about and which pages matter, without parsing menus, scripts and ads. It is similar in spirit to robots.txt and sitemap.xml, but written for AI.
Where to put each file
| File | Where | WordPress tip |
|---|---|---|
llms.txt | Site root: https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt | Upload with File Manager / FTP into public_html, or use an SEO plugin that supports llms.txt. |
| JSON-LD schema | Inside <head> of the home page | Paste into a header-scripts plugin or your SEO plugin’s schema settings (avoid duplicate Organization schema). |
| robots.txt rules | https://yourdomain.com/robots.txt | Edit with Yoast / Rank Math’s file editor or via File Manager. |
Tips for better AI understanding
- Write the description as a fact, not a slogan: “WordPress developer in Cairo with 8+ years and 450+ projects” beats “We make dreams come true”.
- Use the same name, phone and address as your Google Business Profile.
- Add sameAs links to every official profile – this is how AI connects your website with the rest of the web.
- Keep FAQ answers short, factual and identical to the FAQ shown on your page.
- Test your schema with Google’s Rich Results Test and check your visibility with the AI visibility checker.

Frequently asked questions
What is an llms.txt file?
A Markdown file at the root of your website (/llms.txt) that gives AI tools a short, structured summary of your site: name, description and links to the most important pages, grouped in sections.
Does Google use llms.txt?
Google has not said it uses llms.txt for ranking. It is mainly read by AI tools and agents. For Google, structured data (schema) and good content matter more – this generator creates both.
Should I block GPTBot and other AI crawlers?
If you want AI assistants to know and recommend your business, allow them. If you publish paid or exclusive content, you can allow AI search bots (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot) and block training bots (GPTBot, CCBot, Google-Extended).
Which schema type should I choose?
Use LocalBusiness (or a specific type such as MedicalClinic, Restaurant or Store) if customers visit a physical location, ProfessionalService for agencies and consultants, Person for freelancers and Organization for everything else.
Is my data saved or uploaded?
No. The generator runs in your browser. Your answers are only kept in your own browser so you can come back and edit them.
