Why a WordPress website needs monthly maintenance
WordPress itself is solid; the risk lives in the plugins and themes around it. Patchstack counted 11,334 new WordPress vulnerabilities in 2025, 91% of them in plugins, and the most targeted ones were mass-exploited a median of about five hours after disclosure. A site that is updated "when someone remembers" is exactly the site that gets hacked. That is why maintenance is closely tied to my website security and malware removal work, and why I wrote the WordPress security checklist for 2026.
The platform around your site also keeps moving. PHP 8.1 reached end of life at the end of 2025 and PHP 8.2 stops receiving security fixes at the end of 2026. Public SSL certificates are limited to 200 days from March 2026, and the maximum drops to 100 days in 2027 and 47 days by 2029, so renewals must be automatic and monitored. None of this happens by itself.

Frequencies are adjusted to each site. A small company site and a busy WooCommerce store do not need the same plan, which is why every plan is priced as a custom quote after a free consultation.
Moving your website to a new server without losing SEO
Migration is part of this service because a slow or unreliable host is one of the most common reasons clients contact me. My usual process:
- Audit and full backup. Files, database, email accounts, DNS records and cron jobs are documented and backed up.
- Prepare the new server. Correct PHP version, caching, SSL and security, ideally on a server I set up through my server and hosting management service.
- Copy and test privately. The site runs on the new server before anyone sees it, and every page, form and payment is tested.
- Switch DNS with low TTL. Traffic moves over quickly, with little or no downtime.
- Post-migration checks. URLs, redirects, SSL, email delivery, speed and Google Search Console are verified.
The part of a migration that breaks most often is not the website, it is email. If your MX, SPF, DKIM or DMARC records are not moved correctly, messages start bouncing or landing in spam. I check them on every migration.
Why hosting backups are not a maintenance plan
Most hosts keep a few days of backups on the same infrastructure as your site, and restoring them is rarely tested. A real plan keeps independent copies, tests restores, applies updates safely and watches the site every day. There is no fixed price list. The cost depends on the size of the site, whether it is a store or learning platform, how often it needs backups and how fast you need responses. After a free consultation and a quick look at your website, I send a custom quote.
What is included in a monthly website support plan?
Tested updates for WordPress, plugins and themes, automatic off-site backups with restore tests, uptime, SSL and security monitoring, malware scans, performance checks, bug fixes and small changes, and a short monthly report. The exact scope is agreed with you in advance.
Can you migrate my WordPress website to a new host without losing SEO?
Yes. I copy and test the site on the new server first, keep the same URLs, move email and DNS records correctly, then switch DNS with a low TTL so downtime is minimal and rankings are not affected.
Do you maintain websites that you did not build?
Yes. Most maintenance clients come with a site built by someone else. I start with a health check to find risky plugins, broken features and security gaps, fix the urgent issues, and then keep the site on a regular routine.
What happens if my website gets hacked or goes down?
Monitoring alerts me quickly, and because there are tested off-site backups the site can usually be restored fast. I then find and close the cause, whether it is a vulnerable plugin, a weak password or a server issue. How incidents are handled is part of the plan we agree on.
