What is n8n, and why I use it for business automation
n8n is a workflow automation platform that connects apps, databases, APIs and AI models through visual workflows, with the option to add code when needed. It has built-in AI agent capabilities and can be self-hosted, so your data does not have to pass through a third-party automation service. Its pricing model is also friendlier at scale: n8n counts one full workflow run as an execution, while Zapier bills per task and Make per credit, so multi-step workflows are usually far cheaper on n8n. WhatsApp automation the right way
I connect WhatsApp through the official WhatsApp Business Platform, not unofficial tools that can get your number banned. Since July 2025 Meta charges per template message, while replies inside the 24-hour customer service window are free, so a well-designed workflow answers customers quickly and keeps paid messages for the moments that matter.
Self-hosted n8n must be secured
A self-hosted n8n instance stores credentials for your CRM, email, accounting and AI accounts, which makes it a valuable target. In January 2026 n8n disclosed a critical vulnerability rated CVSS 10.0 (CVE-2026-21858), a reminder that an unpatched, internet-exposed instance is a direct path into every connected system.
Every n8n server I set up runs behind SSL and strong authentication, is kept updated, has its encryption key and database backed up, and uses accounts with only the permissions each workflow needs. For AI steps that touch money or customers, a human approval step stays in the loop.

What is n8n, and why choose it over Zapier or Make?
n8n is a workflow automation platform that connects apps, APIs and AI models. It can be self-hosted, supports custom code and counts one full workflow run as one execution, while Zapier bills per task and Make per credit. For multi-step business workflows it is usually more flexible and cheaper at scale.
How much does an n8n automation project cost?
It depends on the number of workflows, the systems to connect and how much AI is involved. I give a custom quote after a free consultation. Running costs are usually a small server for self-hosted n8n plus any AI model usage and WhatsApp message fees, which I estimate for you upfront.
Is my business data safe with AI automation?
It can be, if it is designed carefully. I self-host n8n on your server, keep credentials encrypted, give each workflow only the access it needs, avoid sending unnecessary personal data to AI models and add human approval for sensitive actions.
Can n8n send and receive WhatsApp messages?
Yes. I connect n8n to the official WhatsApp Business Platform so it can send order updates, reminders and replies, and pass incoming messages to AI or to your team. Using the official platform protects your number from being banned.
Should I use self-hosted n8n or n8n Cloud?
n8n Cloud is quicker to start and n8n manages the hosting. Self-hosting keeps data on your own server and usually costs less at higher volumes, but it must be secured, updated and backed up. I help you choose and can set up and maintain either option.
