Overview

Al-Iqtisadi Al-Masri is an Arabic economic news portal. Beyond the website itself, it runs on a set of custom newsroom tools I built for its editors – from collecting news to live market prices and editor reports.

The challenge

An economic newsroom has to follow many sources at once, publish quickly without publishing blindly, show live prices readers check every day, and protect the site from a compromised editor account.

The approach

A newsroom plugin that collects stories from economic RSS sources into a review queue – an editor decides what becomes a draft; nothing is published automatically.
A live market-prices widget: gold by karat, the gold pound and ounce, six currencies against the pound, and oil prices.
Editor reports: posts and views per editor with Excel exports.
A security plugin that limits mass deletions and blocks repeated failed logins and bots.
